Digital Portfolios, How To

We’re almost done with creating our digital portfolios!  Congratulations on all the hard work you’ve put into this project!

This video tutorial reviews how to add attachments (such as Microsoft Office documents), Google Docs, and hyperlinks to your portfolio to help you better showcase your work.

Here are some ideas for ways to present a project’s final product on your digital portfolio:

  1. Video (see the “Adding Video” tutorial for instructions on how to embed video both from You Tube and from your Google Docs)
  2. Pictures (great for digitizing artwork, poster boards, or other hard to digitally display project work)
  3. Microsoft Office and Apple iWorks Documents (such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher)
  4. Google Docs (actually embed into the site making work easy to see quickly)
  5. Music (see the “Adding Music” video; great to display your beautiful singing voice, band’s latest song, or even a digitally edited collage of songs you put together)
**HINT**When converting PowerPoints to Google Docs to embed in your digital portfolio/website, sometimes it works better to PDF the PowerPoint and use the PDF version for upload to Google Docs.  Don’t have any idea what I’m talking about??  Watch the video, you’ll get it. : )
